The CARMEL ALERT   November 1st 2013
A compilation of news reports from the past week for the information of those committed to praying for the Restoration of Israel & the Jewish People.

A Call to the Watchmen
Zechariah 8:22  Yes, many people and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the LORD YHVH.

There are several scriptures mentioned in the Tenach (Old Testament) that refer to non Jewish people coming up to Zion, to stand on  the mountains of Israel, to pray and intercede before the King of Israel on behalf of His people and His nation.  Jeremiah 31 :6,7  For there will be a day when the watchmen will cry on Mount Ephraim Arise, let us go up to Zion to the Lord our God.   The following verse speaks of what the watchmen will do once they are up on the top of Mt. Zion. it says (vs 7) They willl sing, shout, proclaim, praise and pray “Save your people Adonai.”   The word watchmen here in Hebrew is notzreem, which is the modern Hebrew word for Christians.  This is  an invitation and a  calling to you from the God of Israel through the prophet Jeremiah, to do just that

In Isaiah 62:6 says “I have set watchmen on your walls O Jerusalem, they shall never hold their peace day or night You who remind the Lord, do not keep silent, and give Him no rest until He establishes Jerusalem to be a praise in all the earth.   The word remind in Hebrew is muskireem which is the modern Hebrew word for secretaries and comes from the Hebrew word to remind, to cause someone to remember what they have said or need to do.  So here is another a calling and invitation, to be like spiritual secretaries, reminding God of His promises and covenant to Israel, in intercession,  just as Moses and many of the other prophets, leaders, kings and priests did.

There appears to be some dynamic that God seems to enjoy and delight in  when we respond to this invitation and calling to  pray and intercede and “remind” Him of His word,  His covenant, and His promises.   It appears from chronicled accounts in the Tenach that it moves the heart of God , it changes the heart of God, it causes His arm to move with power, supernatural power, to do great and wondrous acts.   It’s amazing !

Under the Mosaic Covenant only males from the Levi tribe could be priests of the LORD.  In the New Covenant everyone is called to be a priest.  There are many verses where God calls us to pray for Israel. Isaiah 62 6 – 7  above is speaking to everyone who mentions the name of the Lord or who calls upon His name.  If we stop and think about it, what an amazing honor and privilege it is to converse with the Creator of the universe in prayer.  The verse is also specifically speaking about praying for the city of Jerusalem, the only city in the world that the bible calls us to pray for.

David and I are in the process of organising our  IRI annual Prayer Summit for 2014.  Our theme for the summit next year  will be  Hoshiana, Ana Adonai, Hoshiana (Save your people O Lord).  Our foundational verse for next year’s event is  Joel 2:17 Let the priests who minister to the Lord, weep between the porch and the altar, Let them say, Save your people O Lord.

Would you pray about joining us for this strategic and prophetic event and to come up to Zion to fulfil this prophetic calling to stand in the gap in intercession for Israel’s salvation and deliverance.  Again what an honor it is to be invited by the God of Israel to come up to His land and stand before Him on behalf of His people and pray !

We have arranged a special treat in next years prayer summit. We have invited a  Hebrew language scholar who will be sharing the treasures he has discovered in the Hebrew scriptures which will reveal  the “thread” that underlies the entire old testament  of who the Messiah is. It is fascinating.  We will have a whole day of his teaching which we believe will be a very deep and rich revelation for many of us.

The summit dates are March 23 – 31  2014.  For more information, we will send you the flyer with details and the approximate cost. If you would like to register then please email  –   We have limited space so early registration is always advisable.

If you are not on the subscription list to receive Josie’s monthly prayer points bulletin and would like to be please email Josie at

We hope to see you next year in Jerusalem

The Lord bless you as you bless Israel by standing in defense of her right to exist in the land given to the Jewish people by the God of Israel. Lets pray that Israel will turn back to their God.  Do not be silent at this most strategic time, but share this with your fellow Christians, share it with your pastors, and with anyone you have a chance to speak to.  Lets also pray a for break-through to the Muslims, and please remember to pray for all of the soldiers in the IDF – they are defending and fighting for the soon coming Kingdom of God.

Shabbat Shalom  ….  David& Josie… ..

1.  Israel Attacked Syrian Weapons Convoy    Jerusalem Post   Oct 24
Israeli warplanes destroyed a convoy that was delivering advanced Syrian weapons to Lebanon’s Hezbollah terrorist militia on Tuesday. The Kuwaiti newspaper that first broke the story by citing an unnamed Israeli official also reported that Israel is aware of a large Hezbollah stockpile of long-range missiles in southern Lebanon, and could strike the target in the near future. Israel has carefully avoided being drawn into the ongoing Syrian civil war, in which Hezbollah is playing a very active role. But Jerusalem has repeatedly warned it will not allow the conflict to be used as cover to provide Hezbollah with even more advanced and deadly weapons with which to threaten the Jewish state. Northern Command Maj. Gen. Noam Tibon said Thursday that in light of Syrian attempts to smuggle weapons to Hezbollah, the IDF “must do what we can do to prevent it.” He said the number of rockets in Hezbollah’s possession could press Israel into new levels of aggressiveness. Please continue to keep the protection of Israel’s northern borders in your prayers – also that the flow of deadly weapons from Syria to the Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon will be brought to a stand still.

2.  Israeli Jews & 1 Israeli Arab Injured in Terror Attack   Israel Today News  Oct 27th
Nine people were wounded on Saturday night when stone-throwing Palestinian Arab youth attacked vehicles traveling south of the Judean town of Hebron.  The assailants were targeting Jewish motorists, and managed to damage a bus carrying numerous Israelis. Eight of the passengers were treated for minor injuries.
Also wounded was a young Palestinian Arab girl traveling in a private vehicle.   Such roadside attacks have resulted in fatalities in the past, and Israeli soldiers conducted an intense search for the perpetrators.
In related news, Palestinian terrorists operating out of the Gaza Strip fired two mortar shells into southern Israel on Sunday. There were no injuries reported. In
Hebron, a 16-year-old Palestinian was arrested after trying to stab Israeli soldiers standing guard at the Cave of the Patriarchs, burial place of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Sarah, Rebecca and Leah. It is the second holiest site in Judaism.   Meanwhile, the Palestine Press reported on that the Hamas regime in Gaza had ordered its forces to “shoot to kill” anyone taking part in an anti-government demonstration scheduled for November 11.   Hamas fears that with the recent fall of the Muslim Brotherhood government in Egypt, it could be the next victim of the “Arab Spring” pro-democracy movement.  Please pray that all planned terror attacks will be averted

3.  Israel Approves Release of 26 Terrorist Murderers    ICEJ News  Oct 28th
An Israeli ministerial committee Sunday approved the release of 26 Palestinian terrorists, all of whom are serving life sentences for murdering Israelis and were convicted before the 20-year old Oslo Accords.  This is the second batch of 104 prisoners whose freedom was promised against the Palestinian Authority’s consent to enter into peace negotiations three months ago. Twenty-one will be sent to the West Bank and 5 to the Gaza Strip.  Israel also bowed to heavy European pressure and ended its year-long boycott of the Geneva-based Human Rights Council imposed in protest over being systematically singled out for condemnation out of all other members, including Iran, Syria and North Korea.

4.  IAF Strikes Gaza After Incoming Rocket Attacks    ICEJ News   Oct 29th
Israeli aircraft hit two underground rocket launchers in the northern Gaza Strip on Monday after air defense units had intercepted a rocket fired towards Ashkelon earlier in the day. The targets struck included facilities operated by the Hamas’s Kassam Brigades terrorist group, according to Palestinian news agency Ma’an. Meanwhile, a controversial decision to proceed with the release of 26 Palestinian security prisoners was made over the weekend, despite little apparent progress in the ongoing negotiations which the prisoner release schedule is based on.  Please pray that all of these rocket launchers are detected and destroyed

5.  Abbas Caling for Boycott   Israel Today News   Oct 25th
Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday called on the European Union to implement a full boycott of Jewish communities in the so-called “occupied territories.”     The EU has already published new guidelines banning member states from investing in or doing business with Israeli companies with a presence in Judea and Samaria. Private companies are still free do to so.   Abbas wants the EU to go a step further and enforce a full boycott of all goods produced in the Jewish settlements.   “I call on European companies and foreign companies doing business in the settlements to put an end to their activities,” the AFP quoted the Palestinian leader as saying following his meeting with European Council President Herman van Rompuy. Please pray that these calls for a boycott will fall on deaf ears

6.  Israel Issues Permits for 1500 New Apartments in East Jerusalem    Israel Today News   Oct 30th
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu  Wednesday morning announced a major increase in Jewish building projects in Jerusalem.  The announcement came just hours after Netanyahu had freed 26 blood-soaked Palestinian terrorists as a “peace gesture.” The new building projects were themselves seen as a gesture to the Israeli public that had so opposed the release of jailed murderers.  The new building plans are to include an additional 1,500 housing units in the neighborhood of Ramat Shlomo in north-eastern Jerusalem, a large new visitors’ center at the City of David archaeological park outside the Old City, and a new national park on the slopes of Mt. Scopus.  The City of David archaeological park is situated in the volatile Arab neighborhood of Silwan, another local flash point, and the new park on Mt. Scopus will reportedly prevent the expansion of nearby Arab neighborhoods.   Please pray that the Israeli government will continue to issue new building permits to house the increasing population  –  its Bibical !   – and that they will ignore international claims that it is illegal

7.  Israel Quietly Caring for Syrian Refugees   Israel Today News   Oct 27th
Over half a million refugees fleeing Syria’s ongoing civil war have flooded into northern Jordan over the past year. Nearly half of them are living in a large UN refugee camp, but the rest are relying on care from various NGOs, including at least one from Israel.   Among the organizations funding and distributing physical and emotional aid to the hundreds of thousands of Syrians is IsraAid, an Israeli humanitarian group with years of experience in Africa and other regions.  In Jordan, the group is buying and putting together large sacks of essential goods that are passed out to Syrian refugees daily. But, they must do so discretely.
Both IsraAid and its Jordanian partners are careful to remove any labeling that would identify the aid packages as coming from or being paid for by Israelis. With Syria still officially at war with Israel, it is a precautionary step organizers feel is necessary to maintain order and security in the refugee areas.  “We don’t announce with trumpets that we’re Israeli,” reported one of the IsraAid workers  …..  “Still, one of the aims of IsraAid is to demonstrate that the Jewish state is not the ruthless oppressor it is so often portrayed as in the media.   “My main agenda is to put Israelis on the ground around the world and show the world that Israel cares about them,” explained IsraAid founding director Shachar Zahavi.  Indeed, many Israeli humanitarian organizations like IsraAid are active in the Middle East, and the recipients of their assistance often discover that the group is from Israel. More often than not, the beneficiaries might be surprised at receiving help from Israeli Jews, but they are appreciative, too.

8.  Another Blessing from Israel   ICEJ News   Oct 30th
An Israeli company called SunDwater has developed technologies which can bring fresh, clean drinking water to millions of people around the world who are currently suffering from shortages. “About 97 percent of the world’s water is saltwater or polluted water,” explained SunDwater CEO Shimmy Zimels. His company’s portable, low-cost filtration system uses solar power to evaporate salty or polluted water and then condenses it back into liquid, leaving the salt and/or pollution behind. One system can produce up to 400 liters (423 quarts) of fresh water a day, and there is no limit to the number which can be brought together to form a water farm. Elsewhere, students at the Jerusalem College of Technology (JCT) announced on Tuesday that two of its students have developed a promising software solution for the global problem of digital identity theft       Please pray that the world will begin to appreciate the blessing that Israel & the jewish people are to all of mankind  and stop the  “illegal occupiers” & “Apartheid state” nonsense
